When their mother was tragically hit by a car, tiny siblings Gigabyte, Imo, and Juno were left orphaned and vulnerable. Fortunately, they found an unexpected guardian in Atlas, our largest dog, who has stepped up as their surrogate uncle. Atlas not only sleeps by their side each night but also protects them from other dogs and mediates their playful squabbles.

As we care for these little ones, we are eager to find them loving homes. In Pai, the trend of buying dogs from breeders has led to many local dogs being overlooked. We hope to inspire a shift in mindset, encouraging our community to consider adopting and supporting local animals in need.

Thank you for supporting Pete’s Mission and helping us give these deserving puppies a brighter future. With your help, we aim to change perceptions and find these sweet siblings the homes they deserve. And if you yourself consider adding an animal to your family, please adopt from your local shelter and help reduce the number of homeless dogs in this world.

We need to find good homes for this supercute litter of puppies. Sadly the mother of Steven, Illy and Claire was hit and killed by a car. Now we need to find loving homes here in Thailand for these pups while they are young. As always we will provide vaccination, sterilisation and follow up medical care when needed. Please don’t forget: adopting a puppy makes room for us to help more

Since this is something that happens frequently and we consider a significant part of our rescue work, here is a break down of how Pete’s Mission is able to help.

Thailand is home to millions of street dogs and therefore it happens quite regulary that Pete’s Mission receives information about a new puppy litter in the area. Whenever this happens we’ll make sure to visit the mumma & her babies straight away to see if they are living in a safe spot. If they aren’t: we’ll take them to the sanctuary immediately. For example in the past we have picked up puppies who were underfed, living in a drain pipe, close to big roads or whose mum had been killed like it’s the case with this litter. We’ll always take medical care of mum & her babies and feed them daily, unless of course there are locals living nearby who are taking over this responsibility.

Whenever the pupies are old enough we’ll then ensure to find save homes for them by reaching out to our local community. Pete’s Mission was set up to improve the welfare of stray animals and the most effective way of doing this is by managing the root problem, which is the overpopulation of street animals. This is why we have a spay and neuter programm and sterilize dogs on a weekly basis.

In the past years we have been able to save, rehome, spay and neuter countless of puppies and we’ll continue to do so. Please consider supporting our vital work since we are the only animal rescue in this area.

Please meet our biggest ever rescue pup “Phoenix” . Previously he lived life on a short chain barely able to move. After careful and considerate communication his owners agreed to surrender him to Pete’s Mission. We knew from the start he wouldn’t stay with us for long and gave careful consideration to his potential future home.

After just a couple of weeks we found the perfect family for Phoenix, whose new name is “Phukaow” (Mountain) . His new home is nothing short of paradise for a young energetic dog. He shares his palace with 2 humans and 2 other dogs. Never again will he be chained.

In the beginning of May we were called to help a temple pup who had gotten hit by a car. She was frightened and in a lot of pain when we arrived. Both her left legs were severely broken. Our loyal supporter and friend Ally came up with the perfect name for our precious new friend: “Takatan” (“grasshopper” in Thai).

We brought Takatan home, she settled in well and found a new mum in our fierceful longterm-resident Peanut.
She received the care that she needed and was soon back on her feet.

After only 2 months at Pete’s Mission our little Grasshopper got adopted!
Her new home is beautiful and far from busy roads.
And although we’ll miss her, her adoption will allow us to take in another pup in need.

Merkle, a bull terrier, came under Ryan’s care in April 2018. He was a very well loved pet until his owner became ill and sadly died.
Initially Merkle was up for adoption but when it became apparent that he had many health issues, it looks like he’ll be a long term resident at Pete’s Mission.

He’s a delightful dog. He’s like a solid rock… immovable when he chooses. A bit tricky when he decides to share a single bed with a volunteer! He’s obstinate, funny, loveable and a star .

He particularly loves playing with Ewok who brings out the energetic, playful side of Merkle. Many of the other pups like to snuggle up to Merkle giving him kisses. Pickle and Pod as little puppies were his roommates at one stage, giving them an extra sense of security. He likes to plonk himself in the most unlikely places … whether that’s on a pile of blankets in a laundry basket, in a seemingly too small kennel, onto a human’s bed or simply as a doorstop. He’s always up for a pat, a stroke, a kiss and a cuddle.

Merkle does love a good road trip in Ryan’s sidecar and is also blissed out when being driven around the premises in a motorbike.

Ryan looks after Merkle whether it’s to regularly clean out his eyes, keep an eye on his medical conditions or to let him in or out the house as and when Merkle chooses, such as in the early hours. He likes to go out for awhile and then makes it loudly known he wants to come back in. Not a dog to be ignored!

A lovely soul enjoying his retirement years at Pete’s Mission.

In September 2018 Duda had been dumped as a puppy along with her mum and siblings, left inside a small box at a temple. They all joined Pete’s Mission Mumma Mirna and 2 of Duda‘s siblings were adopted soon after, whilst herself and sister Shirley remained at the shelter. They were overseen by potential adopters again and again and became long-term residents, as they witnessed other dogs come and go.

The 10th of May was a special day for our girl Duda, it was time to move into her new found home.
It was a bittersweet goodbye, as she’ll be missed terribly at Pete’s Mission.
But having found a beautiful, safe home for her fills us all with joy and luckily she hasn’t moved too far for us to visit.

Mr Moose came to Pete’s Mission in November 2018. He’d been run over and where he lived they weren’t able to care for him. He underwent an operation and a steel pin was inserted into his back leg. This has left him with a permanent limp which doesn’t hinder him at all.
After the operation he had a really hard time as he had to have a considerable amount of time confined to his cage to allow healing to take place. He was very good and comfortable with the volunteers who would gently take him out of his temporary home for poo and pee breaks, and cuddles (of course).
It paid off and eventually he was able to join the other members of the pack.
Cheewit from the disabled Mafia team took exception to him and would keep barking at him….whilst Moose sagely ignored him. A different story with Pecan who really loved him and they spent time snuggled up together

Moose is a real character and he took it upon himself to lead the early morning chorus …

The day came on Friday 24 th April 2020 when it was his turn to be adopted, having been looked over on other occasions. He’ll be such a welcome addition to the local family who have adopted him.

We miss him at Pete’s Mission and wish him happiness in his new home.

Pickle was left in a box at a temple in November 2019. Ryan was contacted and so Pickle moved into Pete’s Mission, initially into Ryan’s bedroom as he got acclimatised to his new home. He then became the roomie of volunteers. He was the tiniest, cutest of puppies. He grew bolder and initially spent a lot of time both with his fellow roommates, Mr Merkle, our bull terrier and Miss Pod. He got bigger, bolder and cheekier never losing his cuteness
He thrived on his plant-based food.

He was adopted on Saturday 25th April, a day after Moose and by the same family. He was so happy to be reunited with his friend, Mr Moose. Once again another beautiful soul who came to share time at Pete’s Mission, won our hearts and to whom we wish the happiness he deserves.

In December 2019 we found the perfect home for our special, little guy Hug.

His adoption was a particularly heartwarming moment for the whole team, as Hug has had a tough start in life.

Hug had been living almost his entire life chained up, like so many other dogs in Thailand. It’s not unlikely that ever since he was a puppy, he has never experienced freedom.

After seeing Hug in his living conditions, Ryan had been trying to convince the owners to set him free with no success. One morning in September 2019 Ryan was able to take Hug to the sanctuary, after he had broken up a dog fight between Hug and another dog that had left the two of them tangled up and wounded. From then on Hug stayed at Pete’s Mission and loved the new freedom that came with it.

Knowing Hug has found a home is incredibly uplifting.

It truly is a perfect match.

He’s safe, healthy and loved.
