Nabaan is a very lucky street dog that wants for nothing. “Nabaan” translates to “Front of house” . She is loved by so many in this town and will get exactly what she needs. Unfortunately a recently removed tumor in her front leg had returned in November. Further surgery posed a great risk as Nabaan is a sweet old lady already. We kept a close eye on her for a while and when the tumor ruptured it left us with no choice but to try and operate on her. She spent the night before her surgery next to our volunteer’s bed, cuddled up in blankets and was treated to a veggie burger for dinner.
I’m beyond happy to share that surgery was very successful! Our vet is the best!

Three weeks ago we were contacted by locals who told him about Annie. She had gotten caught in a wire snare trap. Unfortunately these sort of traps are quite common within the area.
Annie arrived at Pete’s Mission with severe cuts covering her neck. She is a sweet soul and luckily she came to the right place.
Her wounds healed in record speed.

However it turned out Annie also has a cancer called Canine Transmissible Venereal Tumour (CTVT), which is treatable.
After she’s had time to recover from her open wounds Annie returned to her old village and a small cafe watches over her now.
We will visit her regularly and facilitate her chemotherapy, like we’ve done with countless other street animals. #

Please allow me to introduce “Flash Gordon”. In mid-September we found him in the streets, malnourished and suffering from severe mange. We immediately took him to the sanctuary to take propper care of him. Flash Gordon was a very fearful guy and didn’t really enjoy too much attention from our volunteers. But luckily eventually he got more curious by the day.

It only took a few weeks for him to recover and he started being more comfortable around new people (however still prefered to keep mostly to himself). Today his skin is soft and his belly is fat. It’s very unlikely Flash Gordon will ever be adopted. But he will retire here at the Pete’s Mission sanctuary and never be hungry and sick again.

It became clear she was dying, she couldn’t walk and refused to eat.
But, as we drove toward the clinic with the wind in her face and the sun on her back I knew this was not quite her time.

Leslie lived for another 4 days in the caring hands of 2 amazing nurses Isabelle & Caro that tended to her every need. In life she was a generic and forgotten street dog but in death she will be etched in the memory of more friends than she could ever have hoped for… We love you old girl
